Paint The Town Red is committed to conscious and responsible paint recommendations, application and disposal. Since new "green" products are constantly being introduced in the marketplace, it can be overwhelming for most consumers to navigate through the options. It is my job as a painting consultant to provide you with the most advanced options for your specific needs.
In the cases involving children, pregnancy, and pets, it is especially important to avoid introducing chemicals into your home. To safeguard against health risks and ozone depletion, new and more stringent VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) reduction measures became mandatory in the paint industry in '99. Virtually odor free, Low-VOC and No-VOC paints are now cost effective options that emit minimal pollutants.
When we look for environmentally friendly paints and supplies for you, we also consider the vendor's "green" business practices. Our suppliers adhere to the following guidelines:
Use sustainable raw materials, like soy and sunflower oil in their paints
-
Reduce the amount of solvent in formulations, so the vapors emitted into the atmosphere are more environmentally friendly.
-
Produce less waste and implement energy efficient methods in their production plants.
-
Streamline national distribution processes, helping to conserve fuel, energy and other natural resources.
-
Offer advanced formulas that resist mildew and harmful bacteria to improve the impact on indoor and outdoor environments.
I encourage my clients to use environmentally & "human" friendly paints and to also recycle unused and old paint. To dispose of paint in a safe and constructive manner you can drop your paint off at HHW Drop-off Site at 1150 N. North Branch St. Chicago, IL 60622. Please contact us for more information and a location near you.
